The Jeff Raheb Contemporary Jazz Orchestra
'Passionate, energetic, original and highly crafted music'"Great and unusually uniform writing by Raheb, a lot of substance. Not for the faint hearted" - Dave Liebman
In 1995 Jeff co-founded the Brooklyn Jazz Composers Orchestra with composer/pianist Michael Jefry Stevens which he then
continued as The Jeff Raheb Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. The orchestra performs cutting-edge large ensemble jazz music,
where the traditional boundaries of jazz big band and classical music are extended and explored. The band has featured jazz
greats such as saxophonist, Dave Liebman in July 1996 and March 2001, and saxophonist Oliver Lake, in January 2000 with
Ron McClure on bass. The orchestra also includes many stellar figures from the New York jazz community and beyond, such as:
Dave Ballou, Ron Horton, Dean Johnson, Andy Laster, Jeff Lederer, Roberta Piket, Steve Swells, Chris Washbourne and James Zollar.
The groups first recording 'Topaz Under Moon' was released in 2001.
Jeff's big band music can also be heard on 'Diane Moser's Composers Big Band Live! At Tierney's Tavern' (New Arts NA-001)
Mr. Raheb is currently a member of TrioVera with Dave Acker - guitar, and Nano Valerio - percussion.
They perform original Brazilian-jazz compositions and arrangements.
